Restaurant and music bar MoonCat opens at Utilita Arena

A brand new restaurant and bar concept has opened at Utilita Arena promising an exciting mix of Japanese food, cocktails and live music.

MoonCat is open 7 days a week for food and drinks, with musical entertainment Wednesday to Saturday.

The stylish restaurant and bar offers authentic Japanese dishes, expertly chosen sake and an eclectic cocktail selection curated by some of city’s top mixologists.

Manager Michael Waller says: “At MoonCat we’re excited to offer a unique and entertaining dining experience with Japanese street food and extravagant cocktails in a beautiful setting. We can’t wait to open the doors next week.

“This venture brings together some of the city’s best chefs, bar tenders and musicians, working collaboratively to bring something totally fresh to Brum.”

MoonCat’s resident musicians, Keynote’s Entertainment, are providing the live music, with a full band, duelling pianos and some of Birmingham’s best singers.

Shannon Spreen, formerly of Jukeboxers, says: “We could not be more excited for this next chapter providing the live music entertainment for MoonCat. We are more passionate than ever to bring more live music to Birmingham, create a regular and welcoming home for musicians and artists, and provide guests with amazing nights.

“We are confident that with this new relationship, MoonCat will be a flourishing and unique addition to Birmingham’s vibrant hospitality scene.“

Guests can expect vibrant dishes inspired by head chef Fung Kin Ho’s travels.

He says: “Having honed my skills in Hong Kong and most recently at Kibu in Solihull, I am thrilled to embark on this new journey, bringing the authentic flavours of Japan to Birmingham City.

“This unique concept, pairing quality food with the lively atmosphere of duelling pianos, represents a fresh wave of innovation for the city’s dining scene. It’s more than just food; it’s an experience designed to captivate and entertain, promising an unforgettable adventure for every guest who walks through our doors.”

MoonCat can be found at Utilita Arena next to Brindleyplace and replaces the former Jukeboxers site. Bookings and for walk ins are available.
