Samuel Boulton’s Three-Night Japanese Pop-Up Event

In response to overwhelming demand following the closure of Shibuya Underground, Japanese drinks expert Samuel Boulton is set to host a special three-night pop-up event, offering a unique culinary experience at MODA The Mercian’s Private Dining Room.

With only 14 covers per sitting, guests will enjoy an intimate and personal dining experience. Each evening is priced at £85 per person and includes six meticulously crafted drinks, made with ingredients specially imported from Japan. Additionally, guests will be treated to five traditional small plates, showcasing culinary techniques Samuel Boulton mastered during his extensive travels in Japan.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the “Roasted Cornflakes” cocktail, an inventive blend of toasted Mugi Shochu, butter, toffee, and caramel, delivering a rich, layered profile that perfectly complements the accompanying traditional Japanese potato salad with soy-cured egg yolk. Another standout is the “Modern Sake” serve, featuring a harmonious mix of citrus, melon, and Junmai sake, paired exquisitely with fresh sashimi and a tangy ponzu vinaigrette.
