Shibuya Underground – Japanese Fried Chicken Night

Having opened its doors earlier this year, Shibuya Underground has been the first of its kind in Birmingham, offering customers one of a kind, six course tasting menu experiences in Sake and Japanese inspired cocktails. Over the proceeding months Shibuya Underground has been successful in bringing an insight into the flavours and traditions of Japan to Birmingham through its ‘liquid journeys’ crafted by owner and sake sommelier Samuel Boulton alongside Bar Manager Klára Kopčiková. The pair have triumphantly tantalised the tastebuds of Japan enthusiasts from all over the UK.

Customers are now invited to discover and indulge a time honoured and well-loved Japanese treat; Karaage! Commonly referred to as traditional Japanese fried chicken, Karaage has been enjoyed in Japan since the 1920’s and continues to be a firm favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. Named after the method of cooking and inspired by the traditions of japan, Karaage boasts a unique fried chicken experience, that is A-typical of what is ordinarily thought of as conventional Japanese cuisine – but equally as delicious!

Shibuya Underground owner, Samuel Boulton explains that he is ‘Excited to present more of Japanese Culture to our customers; we are proud to bring even more tastes of Japan to the City, building on what we already showcased so far in Shibuya and hopefully enticing a wider audience to explore the flavours and traditions of Japan that myself, and so many others, have come to love’.

The event will take place on Friday 12th August 2022, tickets are priced at £17.50pp which include a bowl of Japanese Fried Chicken served with 3 dipping sauces; Kewpie Mayonnaise, Honey Ponzu and Umami, alongside a glass of sake to wash it all down! A bespoke cocktail and sake (by the glass) menu will also be available during the evening.

Please note, due to the limited nature of this menu, we will be unable to cater for dietary requirements, for dietary information please contact before purchasing tickets.
