An exciting array of comedies, plays, musicals and one-nighters are on the way to The Alexandra, Birmingham to tempt you into the theatre. Prepare to be amused, entertained and delighted.

Musical lovers will rejoice at the returning classics lined up, including 80s spectacular Fame as Alexandra’s annual Stage Experience production, 70s disco extravaganza Saturday Night Fever, and the legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical Rocky Horror Show. Accompanying these fan favourites are brand-new Birmingham premieres Fisherman’s Friends, Chichester Festival Theatre’s critically-acclaimed South Pacific, The Osmonds and Dreamgirls which will bedazzle Birmingham in time for Christmas during the whole month of December.As 2023 approaches we will welcome Bob Dylan’s double Olivier and Tony award- winning musical The Girl from the North Country.

Those looking for a thrilling evening will be delighted with upcoming shows, including an established classic of the stage; The Mousetrap, the world’s longest-running play on its 70th anniversary; the nation’s favourite movie, now an acclaimed stage event, The Shawshank Redemption and Peter James’ 6th on-stage adaptation, fresh from ITV’s hit drama Grace, with Wish You Were Dead.

Welcoming the best on the comedy scene, for one night only, including Dave Gorman, Britain’s Got Talent’s Axel Blake, Birmingham’s very own – and Alexandra Stage Experience alumni – Joe Lycett, plus Harry Hill, Ed Gamble and Sara Pascoe. The Alexandra is also bringing you the best in comedy from the silver screen and Deborah Moggach’s best-selling novel The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

The theatre’s new season sees the curriculum come to life with classics such as Malorie Blackman’s Noughts and Crosses, the multi award-winning National Theatre productions of both JB Priestley’s An Inspector Calls directedby Stephen Daldry and Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane adapted from the best-selling fantasy novel. 

The Alexandra’s wonderful one night slate includes the stars from the Platinum-selling 1970s Philadelphia group The Stylistics, the inimitable Dreamboys, all the favourite hits from the most celebrated decade ever with 80s Live! and Sky SportsThe Pundits featuring fan favourites Jeff Stelling, Paul Merson, Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson and Charlie Nicholas. Johannes Radebe returns to the Alex after his sell-out visit earlier this year with his new show Freedom Unleashed.

Bring the whole family along to enjoy Sing-a-long-a Encanto, CBeebies’ Justin Live and Annie for a fortnight’s run in Easter 2023. There will be something for everyone to enjoy at The Alexandra Birmingham.
