Almost a year to the day since releasing their second album ‘Falling Out Of View’ and Essex’s electrifying indie-rock heroes The Bracknall now complete the era by sharing an ambitious, cinematic new video for its title track. The ‘Falling Out Of View’ era has been a phenomenal time for the band, who saw the record power to #3 on the Official Independent Albums Chart and #1 on the Official Independent Breakers Chart after raising £43,000 via crowdfunding to finance the project. They again excelled in the live arena too, selling out a 3000-capacity show at Birmingham’s O2 Academy 2, London’s 229 and a warm-up at The Old Blue Last, and attracting huge crowds at Truck and The Isle of Wight.
‘Falling Out Of View’ is the crowning moment of the album, a record which prompted Northern Exposure to describe The Bracknall as “A four-piece from Essex with a passion for bringing back that classic, electrifying British rock ‘n’ roll spirit.” The song finds The Bracknall sweeping into the sweet spot where epic drama is matched by anthemic style, and that strength is heightened by the raw emotion that it conveys. Further magnified with an evocative guitar solo, it captures the devastation of seeing someone you love sink into a downward spiral as you realise you’re powerless to help them change.
Vocalist/guitarist Jack Dacey says, “This song was my view on watching a friend live with someone in addiction. Loving someone that’s unreachable and watching their life play out in front of you with no control.”
The impact of the song is intensified by its brand new video. Its focus falls on two brothers, their personal relationship still clearly resonating despite their lives being blighted by alcoholism and petty crime. But this narrative is just as much about grief as it is addiction, with the pain of the surviving brother palpable in every shot.
The ‘Falling Out Of View’ video stars and was co-directed by the band’s old friend Elliot Warren. The Olivier Award winner’s multifaceted talents have seen him write for ‘Top Boy’ starring Ashley Waters and Kano, appear as a series regular in the Apple TV+ hit ‘Masters Of The Air’, and feature in Steven Knight’s ‘A Thousand Blows’.

Joss Carter in the ‘Falling Out Of View’ video
The video was also co-directed by Elliott Gonzo (Meduza, Tom Walker, Nothing But Thieves) and features performance artist Joss Carter as the brother of the lead character, while Maximilian McKay (flowerovlove, Chloe Qisha) was Director of Photography. It was filmed in Southend.
