The Church has been resurrected!

The beloved pub, in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter has been taken on by the award winning Imposter Restaurant Group. The team behind Tiger Bites Pig, Tierra and Trentina have turned their experienced hands to this historic venue.

This brings their story full circle, as Ed and Neil, two thirds of Imposter, previously worked at The Church some five years ago, before embarking on their own adventures with Tiger Bites Pig. Having such a soft spot for the pub, they jumped at the chance to revitalise, placing it at the heart of the local community and beyond.

They aim to showcase everything this historic building has to offer, whilst bringing a fresh, contemporary feel. Utilising their culinary expertise, The Church delivers some great British produce with a Gallic accent. A revamped dining room, a bustling main bar and a sunny roof terrace are the main features, each offering their own unique experience.

In the main front bar you’ll find a fantastic selection of both keg and cask beers, with the cask coming from Everards of Leicestershire, who have been family run for the past five generations. Their commitment to quality perfectly mirrors our own. Alongside this there is an approachable wine and cocktail list. The experienced bar team have created a vibrant, imaginative cocktail menu which has something for every palate. Independent Birmingham card holders can enjoy 2 cocktails for £10 throughout the week including the ever popular French? Martini and Unorthadoxxx. To accompany your drinks in the front bar you’ll find a selection of hot bar snacks including a scotch egg, sausage roll and beef dripping chips and at lunch time you can grab one of their toasted sandwiches, fries and a soft drink for just £10.

Thursday, (because the weekend starts early!) Friday and Saturday nights play host to a rotating roster of DJs, ensuring an eclectic mix of soul, funk and hip-hop tunes to soundtrack your evening playing from 9pm ‘til 1am.

The team would like to introduce the new light, amiable thirty seater dining room, towards the rear of the venue launching 21st September. From Wednesday to Sunday, this will play host to a seasonal menu of fresh, classically inspired Anglo-French fare. Dunwoods Farm Pork chop, Moules Mariniere and an incredible Sunday roast give an inkling as to what’s on offer. Bookings are available via their Instagram page or by popping in to the venue. Sunday Roasts have been fully booked every week so far so they definitely recommend booking early. Their Wednesday offer of 2 main courses and a bottle of wine for £35 is also proving to be very popular with people enjoying a midweek steak frites with a bottle of Grenache.

The Church has one more trick up its sleeve, a fabulous roof terrace! Perfect for soaking up the sun with friends whilst enjoying a cool spritz or refreshing pint, the urban oasis is ideal for whiling away the days.

Ed Shawcross, Operations Director for the group said:

We opened on August Bank Holiday with a rooftop barbecue to give people a hint to the vibe we’re going for. Merguez sausages and the whole bream went down a storm so it’ll be a regular feature whenever the sun is out!

Whatever your denomination, The Church welcomes everyone, so head down and join the congregation!
