The Old Crown, Birmingham’s oldest pub is back with another year of St Patrick’s celebrations! With nine days full of exciting events, there is something for everyone to celebrate this year…
Digbeth’s St. Patrick’s festival has a rich history, dating back to 1952, and although in recent years the official parade has been missing from the Irish Quarter, that’s not stopped The Old Crown from carrying on the craic.
The Old Crown has continued its partnership with Digbeth events space, The Old Library, to bring Birmingham an amazing roster of events this year. The Old Library will play host to a Peaky Blinders talk from beloved Birmingham historian, Professor Carl Chinn MBE, as well as comedy from some of Ireland’s Hardy Bucks!
And this year, the St. Patrick’s Parade is finally returning to Digbeth after six years! The Old Crown will be keeping the parade party going til late, with live music from local favourites Ash Sheehan, On The Sesh, Lampa and Jonny Allen. Plus DJs will be in the beer garden playing party tunes til late. Garden tickets are priced at £5, whilst entry inside the pub will be free all day.
Co-owner of the pub, Ciaran Healy said: “We are so excited for the official Parade coming back to Digbeth, and on St. Patrick’s Day as well! We’re keeping up the Irish festivities this year with a full programme of amazing events. We hope everyone’s looking forward to celebrate Digbeth St. Pats with us again this year.’’
As well as the Parade Day, The Old Crown is bringing back their Fleetwood Mac night, with live music from one of the UK’s top tributes, Rhiannon. Alongside this, the pub will be showing all fixtures of the 2024 Six Nations on their huge outdoor screens, as well as all the action from Cheltenham on Gold Cup Day.
