Triple-bill of Limited Run Productions at Birmingham Rep this Month

May promises to be a month of unmissable entertainment for theatre lovers, with Birmingham Rep presenting a triple-bill of gripping productions taking place in The Door, their intimate performance space.

The line-up includes a “disarmingly powerful” (Time Out) production about the dangers of nuclear weapons; a journey back to war-torn 1940s Europe uncovering the tragic past of a French village during Germany’s regime; and a “captivating and impassioned” (Broadway Baby) play that plunges in to the world of addiction.

Opening the month, China Plate present seven-time Fringe First winner Chris Thorpe’s (Abbey Theatre) production, Talking About the Fire (Friday 9 & Saturday 10 May). A powerful piece of theatre developed with Tony Award-winning Rachel Chavkin, this one-man show asks why society is not talking about the immediate threat of nuclear weapons, in what has been billed as not just a show, but a conversation with audiences.

This is followed by historical drama All My Pretty Ones(Wednesday 14 – Saturday 17 May) which will take audiences on a haunting journey as three students travelling across Europe uncover the tragic past of a French village whose inhabitants were murdered by the Nazis during World War II.

Closing the month is the award-winning new play, RUM (Tuesday 27 & Wednesday 28 May) a compelling piece of storytelling by Joe Mallalieu and directed by Tess Suddon. This one-man is a raw, authentic and darkly humorous play that wrestles with masculinity, mental health and addiction.
