Vienna Release First Single of 2024 Stare into the Sky

Birmingham-based Midwest Emo band Vienna set to release a dynamic new single, produced by a legend in the scene, Jake Checkoway. The band will be supporting the amazing US band Michael Cera Palin at the Sunflower Lounge.

After the success of their first single, Vienna are set to release another hit single on February 9th. Their music will captivate fans of artists such as: Modern Baseball, Hot Mulligan, Origami Angel and Mom Jeans, who have proved to be a huge inspiration for the band. The four-piece have worked on an exciting new sound, inspired by a range of genres, including Midwest Emo and Indie Rock, to form a new sonic template. Their fresh take on both genres creates an energetic, uptempo track helping to propel people into springtime; entwined with an upbeat and positive feeling, accompanied with an intricate rhythm section, creating a compelling instrumental.

The four-piece band is comprised of Ben Jones on vocals and rhythm guitar, Will Collins on lead guitar, Joe Griffiths on bass and Joe Lewis on drums. Their sound as a collective has evolved since getting together over a year ago, which has led them to “a compelling mix of sounds that resonate with a broad audience” (quote from Tamara Jenna, 2023). ‘Stare into the Sky’ is a mix of twinkly guitars and a catchy melody, juxtaposed by a powerful drum sound, dropping to a half time beat in the final chorus. Vienna have worked with producer Jake Checkoway, a legend within the Midwest Emo genre who has worked on projects such as Origami Angel’s popular albums “Somewhere City” (2019) and “GAMIGANG” (2021).
