With just one week to go until their 25th anniversary UK & Irish tour, WHEATUS announce original band member to rejoin for this run of live shows

With a number of venues already sold out and just one week to go until Wheatus kick-off their much anticipated 25th anniversary UK & Irish tour, the much-loved New York band are thrilled to confirm that multi-instrumentalist original member (and ‘Wheatus’ album co-producer) Philip A. Jimenez is to rejoin them for this 18-date run of very special live shows.

Lucky UK & Irish fans will get the chance to see Philip on stage with the band for the first time since 2001 at this autumn’s 18-date headline tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the band’s million-selling 2000 debut album Wheatus (the record which gave birth to the glorious worldwide megahit “Teenage Dirtbag”).

The New Yorkers hit our shores next week, kicking off proceedings at Dublin Academy on 22nd November, and with the tour culminating in a very special night at London’s OVO Arena Wembley (with Bowling For Soup) on 13th December. All headline shows will see Wheatus perform their classic eponymously titled debut album in its entirety each night, as well as taking fan requests at every show.

Talking about Philip’s return, Wheatus frontman brendan b brown said today; “Well, the secret that we’ve worked together on and off quite a bit since Philip left the band is out of the bag I guess. We’ve discussed properly getting back on stage together many times (and have done once in the USA).  But now we’re in rehearsals just like the old days… and we’re dancing together again. It’s gotten serious – seriously fun.”

Philip A. Jimenez adds; “After more than thirty years of friendship and musical collaboration, it’s incredible to be reuniting for this tour… So far it’s been equal parts honouring the energy and spontaneity of our past whilst carving out the potential for a creative future.”

As well as being a founder member of Wheatus, Philip A Jimenez is a multi-platinum record producer, studio owner, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In addition to co-producing Wheatus’ eponymously itled debut LP in 2000, Philip also worked with the band on subsequent albums Hand Over Your Loved Ones, The Valentine LP and Wheatus 2020. He currently lives and records on his boat (when he’s not on his 300-year-old dairy farm), as well as producing his own new docuseries, The Wanderley, which captures the essence of the life of an artist in the midst of the creative process.
