ZIZZI OFFERS FREE MEALS TO ITALIANS DURING THE WORLD CUP

Italy may have missed out on qualification for the World Cup for the third tournament running, but Zizzi is turning its restaurants into the unofficial embassy for the non-competing nation, celebrating the country that gave the world pasta, pizza and the art of spending three glorious hours around a dinner table.

From 8th–18th June, any Italian national dining at Zizzi will receive a free main course simply by presenting a valid Italian passport.

Whether they’re supporting another team or avoiding the football altogether, Italians can enjoy a meal on the house at Zizzi as a small consolation for missing out on this year’s tournament.

With over 340,000 Italians living in the UK, Zizzi is celebrating the nation that may not be competing on the pitch but continues to dominate globally when it comes to food and culture.

For the non-Italians among us, Zizzi is offering 30% off food, including starters, sharers, mains and desserts, until the end of the group stages (Friday 26th June).

Corrine Prior, Brand & Customer Experience Director at Zizzi, said: “Italy has already given the world the things people crave during tournament season, pasta, pizza and gathering around a table with friends and family. While the Azzurri may not be competing this summer, we wanted to give Italians across the UK a reason to celebrate.”

The campaign, titled ‘Forza Italia, Forza Zizzi,’ playfully positions Zizzi as an alternative way for Italian nationals to celebrate their heritage this summer. While Italy won’t be lifting the trophy this year, Zizzi believes Italians across the UK still have plenty to celebrate and is inviting them to do so over great food, good company and a shared sense of national pride.

To redeem the free main course, guests simply need to present a valid Italian passport when dining at Zizzi and purchase a full-price drink.
