Festive Things to do in Brum by Rhiannon Simpson

Tis the season to…

Buy Local

Medicine Bakery– Market Place 1-14 Dec

As if I needed more of an excuse to visit the alchemists of buttery goodness and beyond- these crazily fabulous bakers are also equally dedicated to the arts, with incredible rotating exhibitions they are also hosting an eclectic festive market from 1-14 Dec. A welcome remedy from the hustle, bustle and tired annual offerings of the German market. Go through the doorway and discover vintage delights, home wares and hand knitted goodies.

World Famous Rag Market

It is not just for Christmas! This is the heart of where Birmingham began and is run by the real people of Brum and it is where we can see the colourful cultures of our city come together. This needs our support. It truly is a one stop destination you can get everything you need all under one roof and for a fraction of the prices on the high street. I love the hustle and bustle and sheer pandoras box of curiosities so many of the stalls have!

Come together and give something back..

Let’s Feed Brum

Helping the vulnerable on the streets this dedicated team of volunteers meet Mon-Sat in the city centre to dish out food donated from local businesses to those who are in need. More than just food they provide structure, conversation and advice, Do you have time to spare? Would you like to donate to their Christmas package mission? Find out more here.

Get cosy

The Karczma

This well-established restaurant in the Polish centre is the ultimate in hygge; like a giant cuddle inside and out. Fall into giant Steiner’s of beer, munch on gloriously fluffy dumplings that will see you reclining on the sheepskin laden seats not wishing to leave. Winter calls for authentic rustic recipes, hearty portions and satisfying stodge, this will not disappoint. Live music line ups can be found online.
