West Midlands Distillery Celebrates Sell-Out Launch of Its First Single Malt Whisky

West Midlands Distillery is celebrating a major coup, as its first-ever single malt whisky release has officially sold out directly from the distillery within days of launch.

The inaugural expression, released on 11 July, has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm from whisky enthusiasts and the local community alike. Bottles were snapped up by collectors, connoisseurs, and curious newcomers keen to experience the first single malt whisky ever to be distilled and matured in the heart of The Black Country.

Despite the sell-out at the distillery, a limited number of bottles are still available through selected independent retailers and specialist online whisky platforms. The distillery has encouraged those who missed out to check availability at trusted stockists while supplies last, with the full list being available on their website – www.westmidlandsdistillery.co.uk

Jordan Lunn, founder of West Midlands Distillery, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s picked up a bottle of our first single malt — your support has been overwhelming and truly humbling. This release is the culmination of years of hard work, experimentation, and belief in what we could create right here in the West Midlands.

It’s a proud moment for all of us at the distillery, but it’s also just the beginning. We’ve got a whole series of exciting whiskies in the works — each one telling a new part of our story. From bold new finishes to long-term cask experiments, we’re just getting started.”

The distillery team is already looking ahead to future releases, with additional expressions scheduled to launch in late 2025 and beyond. These will include limited-edition cask finishes, single cask bottlings, and ongoing work with local suppliers and cooperages to further explore flavour innovation.

“The response has shown there’s a real appetite for quality whisky made outside the traditional heartlands,” added Lunn. “We’re proud to be flying the flag for Birmingham and the wider region, and we’re only just getting started.”
