Artist Joins Forces with Cancer Charity to Foster Wellbeing Through Arts Workshops at Healing Arts Festival

In a powerful blend of creativity and healing, artist Ben Poultney, founder of Draw My Town, is partnering with cancer charity Help Harry Help Others to deliver art workshops that nurture wellbeing and foster connection for people affected by cancer and their families as part of the Healing Arts Birmingham festival.

Timed to coincide with Carers Week in June, the collaboration creates a welcoming, supportive space for patients, survivors, carers and family members. Workshops are tailored to encourage creative expression, shared experience and community-building.

Under Ben’s guidance, attendees will explore their personal journeys through art, fostering a safe space for expression, reflection and hope. This initiative aligns with the mission of Help Harry Help Others, founded by Georgie Moseley after the loss of her son, Harry, to cancer at just 11 years old. The charity has become a vital support system for families in Birmingham navigating their cancer journeys.

Georgie Moseley shared, “Partnering with Ben and Draw My Town is an exciting step forward for our charity. The workshops not only provide creative outlets but also forge connections within our community, reinforcing our commitment to supporting those affected by cancer.”

Ben Poultney, an artist known for his community-centered storytelling approach, expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to collaborate with Help Harry Help Others. Art has been my refuge, a medium through which I can process emotions and find peace. These workshops offer a chance for participants to share their stories and connect with others in a meaningful way.”

The Healing Arts Birmingham festival, spearheaded by Birmingham City Council’s Creative Public Health team Jameel Arts and Health Lab and WHO, engages various arts and community organisations to promote health and well-being through creative expression.
