Young disabled, D/deaf and neurodivergent musicians take centre stage at Together for Music 2026

Together for Music returns to Birmingham on Friday 10 July, showcasing seven inspirational inclusive music groups from across the UK – and featuring local group Creative Sounds Solihull.

Music for Youth is delighted to announce the return of Together for Music, a specially designed inclusive festival strand taking place as part of the Music for Youth National Festival 10th – 11th July 2026. On Friday 10 July at the CBSO Centre, young disabled, D/deaf and neurodivergent musicians from across the UK will perform, create and connect in a relaxed and welcoming environment built around access, creativity and musical ambition.

Together for Music celebrates the transformative power of music by providing inclusive and accessible performance opportunities for young musicians with additional needs. The programme enables participants to share their creativity, build confidence, and experience the joy of performing alongside peers from across the UK. It illustrates Music for Youth’s commitment to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to participate in high-quality musical experiences, regardless of background, ability or circumstance. The event will celebrate individuality, connection and the unique voices of every young musician through performances, workshops and shared musical moments.

Music‑making by young disabled musicians is advancing rapidly – supported by incredible instruments such as the award-winning Clarion, which enables disabled musicians to perform expressively via tablets using eye gaze – and Together for Music will celebrate music as a space where everyone belongs.

Together for Music is sponsored by Trinity College London, whose Awards and Certificates in Musical Development, offer industry-first, fully inclusive qualifications for learners across all abilities and contexts. Toby Davies, Head of Business Development, Music and Performing Arts UKI, Trinity College London said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to team up with Music for Youth to host the 2026 Together for Music event! This exciting partnership shines a spotlight on our shared passion for inspiring and empowering young musicians across the UK, all while celebrating the magic of truly inclusive music-making.”

Phil Castang MBE, CEO of Music for Youth said, “We are delighted to host ‘Together for Music’ as part of our National Festival in Birmingham. This event embodies our commitment to inclusivity and providing life-changing performance opportunities for young musicians across the UK.”
