Inner States is Emma Woolley’s new solo exhibition, opening at Catacomb Gallery on Saturday 10 October and running for six weeks.
It’s a collection of modern figurative paintings that move away from portraiture in the traditional sense, but the bigger story is also the space itself.
Catacomb is a brand-new independent gallery venture from Liam Kerr at The Goodsyard in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. Inner States will be the first exhibition in the space.
The plan is for Catacomb to become an ongoing space for Birmingham artists, with rolling exhibitions giving both established and emerging artists opportunities to show their work. Alongside the gallery there’s also a tattoo studio and independent retail, so he’s creating something a bit different for the city.
