A charged, emotionally rich night of alt rock lands at The Sunflower Lounge on Friday, 10th July, as Alexandra Leaving headlines, with special guest Talking Horses.
West Midlands-born and now London-based, Alexandra Leaving channels the raw electricity of 90s rock. Gritty guitars, soaring vocals, and a streak of defiance run through her sound, shaped by influences such as Wolf Alice, Sinéad O’Connor, and Mannequin P. With more than 140,000 streams and a reputation for high intensity live shows, she’s quickly becoming one of the most compelling new voices in UK alternative music.
Her debut EP, ‘An Exorcise in Anger’ picked up support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Rock with Alyx Holcombe, KEXP and Radio X, alongside standout support slots with Permanent (Joy), The North and Lizzie Esau. Her songs dig into desire, resistance and emotional upheaval, delivered with a mix of grit, vulnerability and sheer vocal power.
Talking Horses open the night with their high energy, genre blending indie rock. Formed in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in 2021, they’ve spent years shaping a sound that fuses indie rock, breakbeats, horn lines and spoken word leaning lyricism.
Their debut album, ‘I Will Work Harder’, recorded at VADA Studios with Matt Terry, captures their ethos of hard work, hope and honesty. After a busy 2025 supporting Shambolics and Haunt The Woods and appearing at Goodentime Festival, they’ve cemented themselves as one of the Midlands’ most exciting live acts.
A Friday night full of raw emotion, big riffs and the kind of live energy that stays with you long after the final chord. Ideal for anyone who wants their alt rock loud, heartfelt and unfiltered!
