Best Netflix shows to look forward to this year

With things finally returning to normal, Netflix is back at producing the shows that were stopped or postponed because of the pandemic. And these shows are nothing less than what everyone has been waiting for! From stranger things to bridgerton, we cover some of the best Netflix shows you can look forward to this year!

Locke and Key season 3

With season two being a success last year, Netflix is all set out for the third season of this fantasy horror. Carlton Cuse, in an interview, talked about how they had started writing a good chunk of season 3 even before the season 2 production and filming started. In the second season, we saw the Locke family finally defeat the demon, the third season is said to be more focused on the family and their bond. It is predicted that the third season is due to arrive sometime later in the year around May-June. However, we will know for sure once Netflix drops the trailer.

Locke and Key follows the story of the Locke family who moves into their father’s ancestral home after his untimely demise. When they start finding keys that open gates to magical beings and places, they accidentally end up summoning a demon. The horror-fantasy follows their adventure as they try to defeat the demon that wants the keys, all the while fighting to stay together through the tough times.

Stranger things season 4

One of the most famous and best Netflix Shows, Stranger Things season 4 was cancelled back in 2020 because of the onset of the pandemic. The show is set out to be released in two instalments this year, with it being twice the length of the earlier season. Volume one of the 4th seasons is set to be released on May 27th and volume 2 after 5 weeks on July 1st. Season 4 is the second last season of the series with the writers concluding that the story of the three friends will end with season 5.

Stranger Things follows the story of the town of Indiana, a close-knit community where everyone knows everyone. However, when a kid goes missing, his friends decide that they are going to find him, unlocking the supernatural mysteries that lurk beneath the quiet town. With government mysteries and experiments that have somehow connected our world to a more sinister realm, stranger things are a breath-taking tribute to the 80s era.

The Witcher: Blood Origin

With the second season of The Witcher gaining way more viewing rates than expected and the show becoming one of the Best Netflix shows, the third season is in the making. However, the producers are not done yet and are giving us a prequel- The Witcher: Blood origin. The show will, unfortunately, not have our favourite Geralt in it. However, the miniseries is going to follow how the world was before the war when the fae ruled the world.

The series is going to be six episodes long and will be shot in the UK, just like the originals. The first look trailer was first seen in the post-credits for the second season that was released earlier this year. The prequel follows the story of the elven world, 1200 years before the world that The Witcher is set in. The story will follow the birth of the very first Witcher and the events that led to the ultimate “conjunction of worlds” where the men, the elves and the monsters started existing on the same plane.

Bridgerton season 2

Based on the series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton is a historical romance set in the Victorian age, following the lives of the elite. The first season followed the context of the first book by the author- the duke and I. the show followed the story in the book accurately. The second season of the famous Netflix show is set to be released on March 25th of this year. As the trailer showed, this season is going to follow the second eldest sibling in the family- Viscount Anthony Bridgerton.

The show follows his love life, as he decides who he wants to marry. However, there is a simple problem- his fiancé’s sister, Kate, is who is haunting his increasingly erotic dreams. Kate is determined to protect her sister from reformed rakes like Anthony but finds her own heart in trouble. Filled with twists and turns, Lady Whistledown makes the story more interesting, following Anthony and continuously leaking the elites’ secrets on the street.
