Birmingham Irish pub hosts St. Patrick’s celebrations

Much loved and traditional Irish pub D.J. Quinn’s has planned a huge celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, spanning five events with free live music.

Based in Hall Green, D.J. Quinn’s is well known for its sports screenings and weekends filled with Irish music and craic. From Thursday, March 12th to Tuesday, March 17th, the pub has coach trips, live music and Super Saturday events up their sleeves to celebrate the Irish festival.

On Thursday, March 12th the local community can take a trip to the Cheltenham Races March Meeting, with a coach trip from the pub. The event, sponsored by Magners, sees some of the best racers across the country compete ahead of the Gold Cup. Those who can’t make the races won’t miss out on the action as on Friday, March 13th D.J. Quinn’s will screen the Gold Cup races on their big screens, followed by live music from celebrated artist Ash Sheehan. Drummer for The Twang and a member of Dead Sea Skulls, Ash Sheehan is a prolific drummer, guitarist and singer; Ash can perform tricks and stunts with his snare drum and get the crowd chanting with his guitar, wowing crowds from intimate spaces to arenas.

The weekend’s festivities continue with screenings of all Six Nations Rugby Super Saturday games on Saturday, March 14th. As France V Ireland closes the day’s sports, Guest List will perform live in D.J. Quinn’s until late. On the day of the famous St. Patrick’s Parade (Sunday, March 15th) Slibhin will perform live traditional and acoustic tunes, before the “Fairytale of New Street” singers Ire-Ish close off the St. Patrick’s celebrations with a live performance on Tuesday, March 17th.

Formerly Behan’s Bar, D.J. Quinn’s relaunched in 2018 to a huge reception from the local community, and has since been a popular spot for locals. Based on Yardley Wood Road, D.J Quinn’s is currently undergoing renovation to further improve the pub. Throughout the month D.J. Quinn’s hosts pub quizzes and open mics where everyone is welcome, as well as free live music every weekend.

St. Patrick’s at D.J. Quinn’s takes place from Thursday, March 12th to Tuesday, March 17th. Tickets for the Coach Trip to Cheltenham Races are £20pp and available from Eventbrite. All other events are free entry.
