Bones Ate Arfa return to Birmingham with a full throttle headline show at The Sunflower Lounge on Saturday 12th September, bringing their ferocious blend of psychedelic street punk, desert rock and snarling noise to one of the city’s most beloved grassroots venues. With special guest SQD in tow, this is set to be a night of sweat, distortion and beautifully chaotic energy.

The trio, featuring Bones on guitar, 8 on drums and Arfa on vocals and bass, have quickly become one of the UK’s most talked about heavy acts. Their debut single ‘Asbestos’ introduced a sound built on junkyard dog riffs and scorched earth intensity, earning praise from Muse, Fred Durst, Isaac Holman, Royal Blood, Tigercub, Demob Happy and Bad Nerves.

In under two years, they’ve carved out a fierce presence on the southern gig circuit, picking up spins on BBC Radio 6 and Radio X, and features in Clash Magazine, Dork, Earmilk and Louder Than War.

Live, Bones Ate Arfa are something else entirely. Their shows feel like controlled demolition, with psychedelic chaos colliding with punk urgency, desert rock swagger meeting DIY grit. Every track lands with unpredictable force, every moment feels on the brink of eruption.

Joining them are Birmingham’s SQD, an alt rock outfit whose sound pulls from post hardcore, post punk and noise. Jagged, abrasive and cathartic, their sets hit with a tension that perfectly complements Bones Ate Arfa’s wild, psychedelic edge.

A Saturday night built for anyone who craves riffs, sweat and the thrill of a band playing like the room might catch fire. If you want a show that feels alive, unruly and impossible to forget, this one’s yours.
