Charlie Dore is ‘still curious’ / Lost Elvis Costello track / Brum gig (Nov 28)

Acclaimed songwriter Charlie Dore brings the final run of her Still Curious EP tour to The Glee Club, Birmingham, on Saturday 28 November 2026.

Joining her on stage will be long-time collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman.

Best known for her classic 1979 hit Pilot Of The Airwaves, Charlie Dore has built an extraordinary songwriting career spanning more than four decades. Her songs have been recorded by artists including George Harrison, Tina Turner, Martha Wainwright, Celine Dion, Ricky Ross and Paul Carrack, while her own recordings and live performances continue to draw critical praise for their wit, insight and emotional depth.

Described by The Guardian as “brave, poignant, entertaining, original” and hailed by Americana UK as “one of this country’s finest songwriters”, Dore is celebrated for work that moves fluidly between folk, Americana, jazz and art-pop, pairing sharp observation with warmth and humour.

Together, Charlie and Julian create a unique live show full of outstanding musicianship, instrument-swapping, storytelling and humour. Expect songs from across Charlie’s remarkable catalogue, including her most recent release, the Still Curious EP – which included a never before released song by Elvis Costello, entitled Mercury Wings, that Charlie rediscovered in a box of cassette tapes in 2024.

“We were on a similar touring circuit in summer ’76 so sometimes we’d cross paths and have a chance to hang out, share music,” recalls Charlie. “At that point whoever had a tape recorder to hand would fire it up …”

Winner of the Overall Grand Prize and Folk Prize at the International Acoustic Music Awards, and an Ivor Novello-nominated songwriter, Charlie continues to prove why she is regarded as one of Britain’s finest and most distinctive songwriters.
