A night of woozy psych groove, sharp tongued indie attitude and funk pop brightness lands at The Victoria on Thursday, 21st May, as Common Goldfish headline, joined by special guests Faucet Van Gough and Perspective.
London’s Common Goldfish is the project of Tottenham producer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist Jonty Lovell, whose journey from impromptu skatepark sets to a full four piece live band has earned them a cult following.
Blending Britpop confidence with funk leaning basslines, breakbeats, warped synths and 90s electronic textures, Common Goldfish craft music that feels like a hazy memory full of nostalgia.
Their debut album ‘Walk in the Park’ leans fully into that mood, offering a dreamy, slightly surreal soundtrack for navigating the chaos of modern life. Built from late night conversations, battered speakers and the strange poetry of everyday mess, it’s a record that glows with both melancholy and joy.
With support from BBC Introducing, appearances at The Great Escape’s First Fifty, and packed shows at Camden Assembly and Peckham Audio, the band is fast becoming one of the UK’s most compelling psych influenced acts.
Faucet Van Gough brings their self proclaimed “pretentious indie music” to the lineup, presenting a sound that’s sharp, theatrical and dripping with attitude. Expect wiry guitars, sardonic humour and a performance that leans into the art school edge of indie.
Birmingham four piece Perspective. round out the bill with their vibrant mix of funk pop, disco and groove heavy energy. Known for their upbeat live shows and feel good rhythms, they’re the perfect spark to kick the night into motion.
A Thursday evening packed with psych soaked colour, indie eccentricity and funk pop flair, unmissable for anyone who wants their live music bold, danceable and delightfully off centre.
