Ghoulishly Good Times For October Half Term

At Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum, there’ll be fun for spooky scientists, witches and wizards at the Spooky Science Night on 30 October. Families can take part in a Zombie operation board game, dance the night away at the silent Zombie Disco and enjoy the spectacular Trick or Treat science show, where every choice leads to a delightful or disgusting experiment! Visitors are encouraged to dress up to be entered into a fantastic prize draw too. Halloween themed drop-in activities are also on offer at Thinktank throughout the half-term week when the museum will be open seven days from 10am – 5pm.

From 22 – 24 October visitors can join a Torchlit Ghost Tour at Aston Hall – one of Britain’s most haunted buildings – to hear about the Hall’s intriguing past. Daytime Family

Friendly Ghost Tours on 28 and 29 October will offer frightfully good fun for younger children and the Aston Hall’oween on 30 October will see the Hall transformed into a haunted mansion complete with a witch hunter, wise woman and an executioner!

Sarehole Mill’s popular Pumpkin Flotilla returns from 29 – 31 October.  Take along your own decorated pumpkin to the mill and watch as the ghostly ferryman glides it across the mill pond.  Enjoy delicious hot chocolate, spooky stories and make a lantern to guide you round the mill pond. Family Spooky Mill Tours are also on offer at Sarehole Mill from 29 – 31 October featuring lantern making and a guided tour with ghost stories.

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarteris the perfect place to unleash children’s creativity over half-term with a Kids’ Jewellery Workshop (27 October) using real jewellers’ techniques to make their own bracelet or pendant to take home. And on 28 October history, folklore and ghosts collide on a Jewellery Quarter Ghost Tour.  Meanwhile over at Blakesley Hall visitors can join a storyteller for the Halloween Family Tour and learn about Halloween traditions on 29 October.
