The Lamp Tavern

The Lamp Tavern is a tiny hidden gem amid the post industrial heartland of Digbeth. From the outside, the pub looks a little uninviting, however, inside is a well run bar which is revered by many locals, and visitors with a penchant for quality real ale.

The pub dates back to the mid 1800s and inside is a quaint and well used bolt hole. There’s plenty of information on the walls regarding the building’s history which makes for a fascinating read whilst supping your Guinness. Bar food is served through the day and there are occasional live music nights from traditional to alternative in the bar and back function room (The Lillie Langtry).

‘Be assured of a warm welcome and good beer from Eddie (landlord of many years), Violet and the little leprechaun, Breda at the Lamp.’ The Lamp Tavern features the only Stanway Brewery illuminated sign in the whole world!

The area can be a little rough at night so care should be taken when venturing towards this part of town, as is the case with most industrial inner city areas. It’s best to call before hand to establish opening times if you’re making a special journey.

A good old-fashioned award winning back street Irish pub with a lot of character, and that’s just the landlord!
