LOCAL MAKERS SHAPE CULTURE AND COMMUNITY AT JEWELLERY QUARTER’S EXCITING NEW RENTAL NEIGHBOURHOOD

Reservations are now live for Makers Place, Birmingham’s most exciting new rental community, located in the heart of the city’s iconic Jewellery Quarter. With new homes and resident amenities designed around culture, creativity and community, Makers Place is offering a rental experience unlike any other seen in the city to date.

Anchoring the new residential neighbourhood in its local context and to embed the spirit of the Jewellery Quarter in its resident experience, Makers Place has teamed up with five ‘local makers’: individuals recognised for their contributions to life in the area. Each brings a distinct creative practice and perspective, and together they will play a central role in shaping culture and community at Makers Place through curated experiences, events and everyday moments across the neighbourhood.

The local makers include:

  • Salmah Abdulsalam, a local poet and storyteller whose work explores themes of identity, belonging and place. Inspired by the Jewellery Quarter and its community, she has written an original Makers Place poem that reflects the rhythm and character of the neighbourhood, giving residents a piece of writing rooted in where they live.
  • Warren Murray, a bartender at Jewellery Quarter pub and Caribbean restaurant Temper and Brown. He is also an artist, dancer and dedicated music connoisseur. Known for his distinctive taste and connection to Birmingham’s creative scene, Warren will curate playlists for the building, creating the soundtrack to everyday life in shared spaces.
  • Pete Dovaston, Director and Chef at Maneki Ramen, a popular local restaurant just moments away from Makers Place. Pete will bring his craft into Makers Place through exclusive ramen masterclasses hosted in the private dining room, offering residents a chance to learn, connect and share experiences over food.
  • Abi Connolly, wine sommelier and owner of Arch 13, one of the Jewellery Quarter’s standout independent wine bars. Abi will curate a resident wine programme, including a ‘Wine of the Month’, tastings and a dedicated wine club, bringing a social and educational element to the community.
  • Rosie Lynall, founder of Nails Bab and a renowned nail artist celebrated for her bold, creative designs. Rosie will host pop-up events for residents, offering opportunities to experience her work in a relaxed, community setting.

Together, these makers reflect the creativity, independence and individuality of the Jewellery Quarter. Their influence will help shape culture and community at Makers Place, from music and events in shared spaces to workshops and social experiences that bring neighbours together. With move in dates from summer 2026, residents, will benefit from a year-round cultural programme curated with local makers, alongside lifestyle amenities including rooftop terraces, co-working spaces, a private dining room, residents’ lounge, cinema and 24-hour gym.

Katie Hannibal, General Manager of Makers Place, said:

“Makers Place is about more than just renting an apartment; it’s about feeling connected to where you live. Our local makers bring that to life in a unique and authentic way. They represent the creativity and culture of the Jewellery Quarter, and through them, residents will be able to experience a home rooted in the area from day one.”

The launch of Makers Place signals the arrival of something bold and exciting for Birmingham’s rental scene. This isn’t just another development, it’s a new neighbourhood, purpose-built for people who want more from where they live. Combining texture, bold design, community focused shared spaces and a strong sense of identity, Makers Place is set to become the most sought after new address in the city centre.
