Birmingham’s Canon Hill Park will play host to a major NSPCC fundraising event for families next month.
Childhood Day is the NSPCC’s flagship fundraising event, with funds raised during the event supporting essential charity services such as Childline and the NSPCC Helpline, both which are based in The CIBA building in Birmingham.
The Fun Park at Canon Hill Park, with rides for toddlers and young children, will donate proceeds from the Jumping Boots Ride to the NSPCC, while other activities including performances from a rock choir, face painting and a prize draw will also be held from 11am on Saturday, June 8.
Amanda Synnott, Community Fundraising Manager for Birmingham, said: “I would like to give a tremendous thanks to everyone at Canon Hill Park and Greenspace Leisure for giving us this perfect opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the NSPCC and Childline. Thanks to you, this year’s Childhood Day will be the best yet.
“Queen Victoria was on the throne when the NSPCC first began 140 years ago. And yet, despite being a large charity, over 80% of the charity’s funds come from public donations, which is why the NSPCC’s Childhood Day is just so important. So please, come along, have fun and help us make a difference.”
Volunteers and staff from the NSPCC and Childline will be on hand at the entrance to The Fun Park to chat to visitors and receive donations on the day.
Visitors can also take part in the Childhood Day Mile where children and adults can walk, hop, skip or cycle a mile to also help raise for the NSPCC.
