Supporting local businesses in Digbeth with unique Father’s Day Gifts

Throughout lockdown, many businesses have had to adapt to Covid-19 – those who used to pull pints are now turning to unique gifts, and the places we used to dance all night are celebrating the music we all love in the comfort of your own home.

Home of some of the most unique businesses in Birmingham, two Digbeth venues have taken creative ways to generate much needed income, bringing people unique present ideas ahead of Father’s Day on Sunday, 21st June.

The Old Crown, Birmingham’s Oldest pub, brings your favourite local to your doorstep with a selection of craft beers, gins, wines and spirits on sale for delivery through their online store. The independent pub has also created limited edition T-Shirts celebrating the pub’s reputation for always having good company, and stocks art from local artists Abbie Severn and Beth Nicol (Bethontwolegs), showcasing murals of both The Old Crown and Birmingham’s skylines.

The store stocks a handpicked selection of drinks from Beavertown, Boxcar, Dead Man’s Fingers, Good Things Brewing co., Malfy, Imaginaria and more, with more exciting collaborations in the works for later in the year. Those looking for a Father’s Day gift for someone who loves the pub can get a wide selection of craft beers, spirits and wines with a minimum of £20 order to apply for delivery.

More art and unique T-shirts from some of Birmingham’s best is set to be stocked in The Old Crown Shop, including a T-shirt from the elusive Birmingham street artist, Foka Wolf, while Bene Culture are also preparing an exciting drop of ahead-of-the-game shirts ready for the summer.

Neighboring The Old Crown is The Night Owl, Birmingham’s independent soul and retro live music venue and nightclub. Since being forced to close along with government lockdown in March, The Night Owl has brought the club to people’s living rooms with the Stay at Home Party Pack – containing a 7” record of ‘The Night Owl’ by Bobby Paris, an exclusive playlist of Night Owl hits picked by resident DJs plus two tickets and two cocktails to be redeemed at a future event.

For those looking for a gift for music lovers, The Night Owl have also created monochrome T-shirts, tote bags and enamel badges featuring their owl inspired logo, so people can represent the best club in town wherever they go.

These are unprecedented times for small and independent businesses, and each sale will go towards saving the respected venues from closing their doors for good. Now, more than ever it’s important to shop local and support independents so they can still be around both in lockdown and in the future.

The Old Crown shop is live now at www.theoldcrown.myshopify.com, with free delivery to any B postcode (£20 minimum spend to qualify). Night Owl merchandise can be ordered by emailing clare@nightowlbirmingham.com, more information can be found at www.nightowlbirmingham.com. Tickets and cocktails cannot be redeemed at brunches or charity events.
