Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath

The Hare and Hounds has been a firm Kings Heath favourite, for drinkers and music lovers, for over a century. The present building is a stunning Victorian design dating back to 1907, replacing the original pub of 1820.

Inside, punters are treated to a feast of beautiful Art Nouveau tiles that line the entry hall and staircase. The tiles, dark wood bar, and many period features have contributed to its current Grade II listed status.

You get the feel of a real old Brummie boozer in the Hare, where locals mingle with cool musicians, students, arty folk and anyone who loves a quiet pint and a natter.

Music plays a huge part in the daily routine of the Hare and Hounds. UB40 played their first ever gig in 1979 (commemorated by a PRS Music Heritage award and plaque), and many other bands from all genres have graced the stages. In recent years, Adam Regan and team, have helped establish this pub as one of the most important and influential music venues in the country, playing a vital part in nurturing the city’s vibrant music and creative community.
