A tender, atmospheric evening of alternative indie, folk leaning textures and poetic songwriting arrives at Centrala on Friday, 29th May, as of iyrn headline to celebrate the release of their debut EP ‘Bury Me’, joined by special guests Fern and Pollyanna Cowgirl.
London based but shaped by their Black Country roots, of iyrn craft a warm, introspective alternative indie sound built around the idea of home, a concept they explore through bilingual songwriting and a seamless blend of Brazilian and English musical traditions. Their songs move fluidly between languages and moods, weaving folk, indie, and Tropicália influences into something quietly bold and emotionally resonant.
Their debut EP ‘Bury Me’, out 2nd June via Joy Of Life International, spans six tracks including the recent single ‘Turn It Red’. The record draws on live improvisation and the distinctive atmosphere of Hidden Place, the temple based Osaka studio where the band have been producing their work since 2020. This show offers a rare chance to hear the EP performed in full just days before its release.
Birmingham indie folk duo Fern bring lush, wistful soundscapes shaped by ethereal vocals, delicate guitar work and a growing palette of lap steel, violin and atmospheric production. Formed in 2024 by Zuzanna Dudek and Morgan Gibson, and later joined by Harry Banks and Letisha Orr, Fern draws inspiration from Elliott Smith, Adrianne Lenker, Hayley Heynderickx and Dora Jar. Their music is intimate, soft spoken and deeply emotive, making them a natural fit for this bill.
Opening the night is Birmingham’s Pollyanna Cowgirl, whose sound walks the line between grit and beauty. With haunting vocal melodies, shifting instrumentation and poetic lyricism, she channels the spirit of artists like PJ Harvey and Tom Waits while carving out a voice entirely her own.
Early support from Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music) and BBC Introducing, plus being named a One to Watch for 2026, has marked her as one of the region’s most compelling emerging storytellers.
A Friday night rich with cross cultural indie warmth, atmospheric folk and evocative songwriting, perfect for listeners who gravitate toward music that feels intimate, thoughtful and beautifully crafted.
