ALFRED WORKS CROWNED BEST FOOD HALL IN THE UK AT BRITISH STREET FOOD AWARDS 2026

Birmingham based food hall Alfred Works has been crowned Best Food Hall in the UK at the British Street Food Awards 2026, just six months after opening its doors in Digbeth.

Part of independent hospitality business Blend Family, Alfred Works brings together 18 independently owned Food Partners, serving authentic dishes and global cuisines from across the world under one roof. Since opening in February 2026, the food hall has quickly established itself as a staple part of Birmingham’s food and drink scene, championing independent food entrepreneurs and creating a space where the community can eat, drink and come together.

The win is a significant achievement for Alfred Works and its team, recognising its best in class Food Partners, loyal community, and all those who have helped make it what it is today.

It also continues a remarkable run for Blend Family at the British Street Food Awards, with a Blend Family food hall winning an award for the fifth consecutive year, dating back to 2022. Cutlery Works, Blend Family’s flagship food hall, won in 2022 and 2023, and then Cambridge Street Collective, another Blend Family destination in Sheffield, claimed the Best Food Hall title in 2024 and 2025.

Nina, COO of Blend Family, said: “We want to thank everybody who voted for Alfred Works to win Best Food Hall. To be crowned the Best Food Hall in the UK just six months after opening is our biggest achievement yet, and we couldn’t be prouder of what the team and our Food Partners have created in Birmingham.

“This award belongs to our incredible Food Partners and the wider Alfred Works team who have worked super hard to bring this home to Birmingham! But it also belongs to our community and our guests. They are the reason Alfred Works is what it is, and we’re incredibly grateful for their support.

“We’ve always believed that food halls can be about so much more than food. We curate authentic food halls that bring together independent entrepreneurs, global cuisines and cultures, but we also build communities through events, celebrations, workshops and initiatives such as our community kitchens at the Blend Culinary Foundation Cookery School.

“To have a Blend Family food hall recognised by the British Street Food Awards for five consecutive years is a huge honour. It’s a testament to our Food Partners, our teams and the communities around each of our destinations.”

The award comes at an exciting time for Blend Family, as it continues to create new spaces where people can come together through food, culture and shared experiences. The next chapter will see this approach brought to The Elephant Exchange in Elephant & Castle, creating another vibrant destination for independent food, local communities and guests to connect.

Alongside its food halls, Blend Family is expanding its sports bar offering with the addition of its ‘Alfresco’ sports bar and outdoor dining space, attached to Alfred Works in Birmingham, bringing people together through food, drink, events, and experiences beyond the traditional food hall setting.

From Sheffield to Birmingham, Manchester, London and beyond, Blend Family is continuing to create places where great food, good people and shared experiences come together. The recognition from the British Street Food Awards is a celebration of the teams, Food Partners, guests and communities who make these places what they are.
