Digbeth First Friday is back for 2016

Digbeth First Friday is back for 2016 with another jamboree of exhibitions, music, performance, street food and more! Start the year as you mean to go on by delving into the wonderful world of independent culture that Digbeth has on offer.

On offer this month:

Millenium Point: We Strike Tonight – Closing Party, 6–8.30pm

Closing party of We Strike Tonight, the debut exhibition from street artist Liskbot.

Meet the artist; and hear him discuss this and his other work at this event.

Vivid Projects: AV Silk Road, 7–10pm

Vivid Projects are going to create an AV backbone of knowledge and talent running from North to South, East to West. Call it the AV ‘Silk Road’. BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) style party of mass projections, an open call event so turn up with your piece of kit and work of choice, plug in and beam!

Centrala: Sovinec, 6pm–2am
 ‘Sovinec’ exhibtion by Jindrich Streit, one of the most important Czech Documentary Photographers. 6-8 exhibition viewing 8-2 Guy Dubious Sound Installation / Cache Feedback Loops/ Ethyl

Cache Presents: Ethyl at Centrala, 9pm–2am

Cache are bringing secret sundaze stalwart Ethyl to Centrala, along with Jayson Wynters, Cache residents and a visual showcase featuring films by One Five West, Emily Warner and Antonio Roberts.

Crand Union: Precarity Centre organised by They Are Here, 6-8pm.

Launch features durational audio-visual performance by Pouya Ehsaei, tarot card readings from Rosalie Schweiker, stop frame animation by Helene Kazan and installation by Ioanna Pantazopoulou.

Stryx: Bourn, 6–8.30pm

‘Bourn’ is the resulting exhibition of a new curatorial collaboration with Midlands-based collective OVUM, an exploration of how hometowns, surroundings and situations impact artistic practice.

Eastside Projects: UnPublic Works and ‘Duck Weave’ 6–8pm

Join Eastside Projacts for a late night viewing of ‘Duck Weave’ by Richard Woods and a very special performance by C100. C100 is an ongoing collaboration that explores the intersection between art, architecture, urbanism and performance.  ‘UnPublic Works’ is an audio-visual deconstruction of motopia
