The Custard Factory

The Custard Factory is one the UK’s leading destinations for creative and digital businesses, independent shops and alternative culture.

Set in 15 acres of beautifully restored Victorian Factories, just five minutes walk from the Bullring and Selfridges, it is the heart of Birmingham’s buzzing creative and digital district.

The surrounding streets of gritty Digbeth are a fascinating hot-bed of creativity, from street art to the emergence of art galleries, bars, pubs and independent shops.

Once the original heart of Birmingham is now waking up.. There are backstreet Irish pubs, industrial architecture galore and a vast array of street art. The Custard Factory and Fazely Studios are perfectly placed to experience this industrial & creative heartland of the UK’s second largest city.

Over 20 years ago, the present owners took on 15 acres of vacant and derelict Victorian riverside factories, where Alfred Bird once manufactured instant custard, and began renovating them to create spectacular office, retail, leisure and event spaces.

Today, The Custard Factory and surrounding area offers a variety of unique shops, galleries, studio and event space which is filled with everything from graffiti festivals (City of Colours), to street food (Digbeth Dining Club) to vintage flea markets and the brilliant Digbeth First Friday event each month.

You can expect to find:

Artists Galleries, Specialist Arts & Crafts, Fashion, Accessories & Gifts, Food, Drink & Entertainment, Health, Beauty & Grooming, Home Ware & Home Accessories, Live Music Events, Record Shops, Sport & Leisure, Cinema and various Street Markets throughout the year.

Reception opening times: Monday – Friday 8.30am to 6.30 and Saturday 9am till 6pm

Shops opening times are: Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 6pm. Bars and Cafes vary.
