A night of modern alt rock, rising star energy and brooding Midlands atmosphere hits The Sunflower Lounge on Friday, 3rd July, as The Desert Plaza headline, with support from The Tamers and A Week Full of Mondays.

London based The Desert Plaza craft a warm, cinematic alt rock sound built on big hooks, introspective lyricism and a sun drenched emotional pull. Frontman Luca Zanni moved from Modena to London to form the band, teaming up with Jack Edwards (guitar), Luke Allatt (bass) and Max Rhead (drums).

What began with late night busking sessions has grown into a fully realised project defined by ambition, heart and a desire to create something unmistakably their own. Their music feels expansive yet intimate, the kind of alt rock built for open skies and late night reflection.

Fresh from a breakout 2025, The Tamers arrive with serious momentum. Formed by Jacob Harley and Matt Clark, and completed by Ozzie Graham and Martin Blunt, the Wiltshire four piece channel the punch of Nothing But Thieves, the swagger of Queens of the Stone Age and the grit of Dead Poets Society. With festivals, national dates and new releases lined up for 2026, they’re primed to deliver one of the night’s most explosive sets.

West Midlands quartet A Week Full of Mondays bring a darker, more atmospheric strain of alt rock: dense, brooding and shaped by post rock tension and post punk imagery.

Formed in 2022, the band evolved from a collective of writers and session players into a fully formed outfit known for their water tight live performances and uncompromising artistic identity. Their music moves from hushed, shadowy passages to thunderous emotional peaks, blending melodic storytelling with a powerful sense of mood.

A Friday night filled with sun lit alt rock, high octane modern riffing and brooding Midlands intensity, ideal for anyone who loves live music that’s heartfelt, dynamic and full of character.
