Yarningham is a new yarn festival produced by Stitches and Hos. Stitches and Hos have invited some of their favourite independent yarn producers from around the UK to come and exhibit in the heart of England.
Yarningham has been created for those who love everything about yarn from expert knitters to curious hobbyists. Exhibitors include Fig Tree Yarns, Jersey based specialists in hard to source luxury yarns from the UK, US and Canada; Toft Alpaca, a Warwickshire based farm that rears a prize winning herd of alpacas to produce the highest quality alpaca yarn and Mothy and the Squid, a Glasgow based indie dyer who specializes in vibrant self striping yarn.
Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 July 2016 Stirchley Baths, Birmingham.
To compliment the marketplace, Yarningham will also include a short programme of workshops for visitors. Learn how to knit socks in the Sock Knitting Workshop, or even how to spin your own yarn in the Drop Spindle Workshop. Yarningham will also feature demonstrations from Weavers, Spinners and Dyers Guild and a visit from Cookies and Cream, 2 alpacas from Animal Encounters – Oasis Hub.
Yarningham is being produced in partnership with The Knitter. The Knitter is the magazine for knitters who are seeking a creative challenge. It is published by Immediate Media every 4 weeks. Yarningham is the brainchild of Stitches and Hos, a motley crew of enthusiasts for things knitted, crocheted and stitched.
Stitches and Hos have been creating stitched chaos at festivals, galleries and museums since 2006. Originally started as a monthly social night held in a pub, Stitches and Hos have also produced large scale knit graffiti projects including covering the pillars of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to celebrate London 2012 Olympic Games.
