The Clothes Show Live 2015 review by Jaspreet Thiara

It has been a week since the biggest fashion event in Birmingham. The Clothes Show that takes place every year, ran from Friday 4th to the 8th December. It was such a super-stylish, busy weekend at The Clothes Show live with a lot to offer.

I attended the event on Sunday 6th December representing Grapevine Birmingham – thanks to The Clothes Show for my press pass, I had a lovely time and spent quite a bit (of which was to be expected).

Interviews

So, it was a very busy day and offered a variety of things to do and get involved in – from shopping the various, unique boutiques, tuning in on the Q&A sessions, picking up a range of style tips & listening in on the riveting interviews at the Olympus Pen Style Studio and Image Catwalk.

Lilah Parsons and Hilary Alexander interviewed known faces – from the likes of Caryn Franklin, Binky Felstead, Charlotte Crosby and Joey Essex exhibiting his brand ‘Fusey’.  Oh, and not forgetting to mention the main show at the Alcatel Onetouch fashion theatre – it was spectacular!

Food & Drink

There were a variety of food and drink offers, where you could rest and refuel with a hot or cold snack, or beverage to rehydrate and quench your thirst from the shopping cardio.

Choices of restaurants to lunch with in the afternoon included The Parlour – for fine afternoon lunch or tea in style and have a taste of the show’s splendid VIP menu. Bellissimo! Or if you wanted to go glam it up – you could have opted for a glass of Lambrini or delicious, fruity cocktail at the enticing Lambrini Cocktail Bar in association with Reveal – oh why not! Or, there was detox friendly The Shoreditch Juice Bar.

Treatments

Amidst of all the shoppers, shopping, catwalks, hair and beauty demos – many people were involved in live photo-shoots, live beauty, cosmetic or pamper treatments such as teeth whitening live at the Megawhite’s (express laser whitening) stands.

Many fashionistas and beauty queens had the choice of live beauty or hair treatments. High street and independent hair and beauty brands from the likes of T-H-X Total Hair Experts were involved and exhibited at this year’s The Clothes Show. There was also the option of shopping from the brands product range at great competitive prices!

Clothing, Beauty & Accessory Brands

Clothing boutiques included high street and independent brands, from the lovely Muubaa, Glamorous, Little Mistress, Philip Armstrong, Maniere De Voir, House of Bilimoria, Girls On Film Clothing, Motel Rocks, Dreamland Clothing – and many, many more fabulous boutiques.

Jewellery and Accessories stands included Black Moon, Mawi, Anisha Parmar, Ma-Ga London, Rebecca Louise Gifts – and many more treasured brands! Beauty brands from the wonderful Elemis, Glitter Express, Make Believe, Helene Cosmetics, Barry M were also available.

The main show at the Alcatel Onetouch fashion theatre!

It was an amazing experience sitting watching The Clothes Show live, hosted by Rick Edwards and opened by an outstanding performance by Ella Eyre.

All the models and dancers put on a fantastic show. The fashion designs and performances were visually powerful and creatively unique.

I really adored the the play with creatively varied, cultural themes – very strong performances with a lot of energy, passion and panache.

From a beautiful, riveting ballet performance, to a cool hip hop scene, to a Red Indian tribe based segment, to a captivating Spanish lovers scene – with a touch of humour promoting the new Star Wars movie, where a storm trooper makes his entrance on stage mid-performance and breaks out into a dance.

The highlights from the whole day’s experience for myself personally, have got to be the performances/catwalks in the Alcatel OneTouch theatre, the ultimate beauty and fashion shopping experience under one roof at great prices, the Q&A sessions which were insightful, the performance by Ella Eyre and the fantastic segment of the storm trooper dancing to Silento! Fantastic!

Not only was the event super-stylish, fun, insightful but also a touch educational and definitely entertaining!

Happy Christmas until Next Year!

I hope our winners from the competition also enjoyed their time at The Clothes Show as much as I did and shopped until they dropped – snagging some great finds along the way.

Thank you Clothes Show for a great day’s experience, it was a pleasure attending on behalf of Grapevine Birmingham – until 2016!

Wishing you a magical Christmas and Happy New Year.
