The Church Inn

The Church has been in Birmingham for well over 100 years and it is now the HQ of The Soul Food Project. The original boozer had a loyal following and served some great beers, it was once famous for its huge fry-ups, but times change, and this really is an example of how the younger generation are reinvesting in Brum’s heritage.

Carl Finn has reinvented the Church Inn with the help of Everard’s Brewery. There is an emphasis on quality cocktails, real ales and occasional music nights.

Influenced by the New Orleans, French quarter that first inspired the Soul Food Project, The Church Inn has had a slightly continental themed revamp whilst retaining original features, it’s still a boozer, but brought up to date with a cool vibe.

First and foremost this is a pub but it’s also a place to call home, somewhere fresh and playful for Soul Food to continue their journey, bringing together a love of the music, food and the vibrant culture of New Orleans. Food is sticky and finger licking good, more pub food than swanky restaurant but already a firm favourite on the foodies dining map. Expect delicious additions from Peel & Stone bakery, from smoked ribs to duck gumbo and various grills, this is hearty food.

The Victorian pub is lovingly restored with a new function room and an inviting rooftop terrace to watch the world go by whilst you sip cocktails or a real ale, or ten.
