Voted one of the “Top 20 Pubs in the UK”, The Plough in Harborne has a villagey vibe right in the centre of Birmingham. Filled with quirky details, and Winner of the Northern design awards best restaurant and bar design, customers will have high expectations the moment they walk through the doors – and it’s ever changing to keep up with the times.
This busy, stylish little pub, took the gastro idea and twisted something traditional into a cool modern concept in pub and restaurant.
Renowned for homemade stone-baked pizzas and silky flat whites, there are plenty of food accolades to inspire confidence, with a menu which really gets your taste buds working with daily specials.
The main guy behind The Plough is Adam Johnson. For those who remember the old Circo Bar in Brum city centre, they will perhaps have already had a taste of Adam’s attention to detail and his food, drink and music background.
There’s a fab little beer garden out back, an ideal spot for lazy Sundays and the occasional summer DJ sessions, it made Open table readers choice top 50 beer gardens.
For regulars there is the brilliant Plough App, which offers discounts, and special offers throughout the year.
Food
The Plough is well noted for high quality food and service both locally and nationally. Open from 8:30am Monday to Friday and from 10am Saturday and Sunday, the restaurant and bar can be extremely busy and it’s not difficult to see why.
The food can be described as fresh, homemade and comforting. Taking inspiration from many European countries, borrowing some classic ideas from North America, whilst not forgetting the pub’s British roots.
The Plough were Runners up in the Observer’s annual food and drink awards, made Best 25 places to have Sunday Lunch by the Times, to name but a few accolades.
Brunch offers everything from bacon butties to full breakfasts, and a superb veggie breakfast with cold pressed juices and award winning tea and coffee and the delicious pizzas are some of the best in the city – Full menu here.
Drink
Drinks have always been an important part of what they do at The Plough. There’s a hand selected a range of premium spirits from around the world. The wine list showcases some of the best examples of iconic new and old world wines, carefully selected from Chile to New Zealand, Europe and beyond.
The cask ales have won awards from CAMRA with plenty of local craft ales available too such as Attic Brew.
Coffee and Tea is taken very seriously! The pub has been named as one of the best 50 coffee shops in the UK by the Independent newspaper. In all, one of the best pubs in the Midlands.
